Microneedling utilizes a hand-held skin needling device to create multiple, tiny superficial micro-channel wounds in the skin. Microneedling improves wrinkles, scars, discoloration, stretch marks, and overall skin appearance by stimulating new collagen formation. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is also absorbed more effectively. Microneedling is often combined with topically applied autologous (i.e. your own) platelet-rich plasma (PRP).
Contraindications include: pregnancy, lactation, actively infected or actively inflamed skin, skin irritation, cystic acne to the area being treated, blood disorders, history of keloid scars, allergies to topical lidocaine and sunburn.
